New feasability study by the KI-Bundesverband

Since 2017, 73% of AI foundation models have come from the US and 15% from China. What about Artificial Intelligence Made in Europe?

There is a risk that Germany will miss the paradigm shift in the field of AI foundation models. As a partner, we present the new LEAM feasibility study. The study was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) on the LEAM feasibility study and published at the LEAM conference in Berlin.

Ubermetrics Founder and UNICEPTA CIO Patrick Bunk and Research Manager Jakob Tesch as well as Prof. Dr. Hans Uszokoreit helped develop the study and review and presented the key findings:

A prerequisite for the development of AI foundation models is access to powerful AI supercomputing infrastructure. As part of this feasibility study, the Large European AI Models (LEAM) initiative has developed a concept to provide the necessary infrastructure and associated services to develop trustworthy open source foundation models according to European ethical standards.
